February Birds and Stripes

I am now officially obsessed with trying to capture ospreys and Japanese white eyes in my lense. I have started taking my camera with on my daily travels. This has been great because I find myself stopping to admire nature more and more often. I stop the car whenever the mood strikes and shoot away. It just struck me that this is what Daddy used to do- I clearly remember his clouds and cows on hills fixations!

Cherry Blossoms

We headed up to Nago to the annual Cherry Blossom Festival. The trees were in bloom this year and it was a gorgeous sunny day-not too hot and not too cold. We all trekked up the 400 or so steps to the shrine relaxing and chatting along the way. The Greens, DeVries', and Fisks were all there to share in the fun and beauty.
I was elated to catch a picture of a hummingbird moth gathering nectar from the cherry blossoms. I have tried to capture them on film but have always been left with random blurry streaks on film. They actually slowed down a bit it seems on the cherry blossoms so I caught a few and boy, was I jazzed! God presented us a wonderful sunset for the ride home to top the day off pefectly.
The cute birdies you see are Japanese White Eyes and I caught them flitting around the cherry trees outside the chapel on base before and after Mass on Sunday.
It seems Spring has Sprung a bit early on Okinawa this year!
